A Downtown Chatham Outdoor Big Poetry Reading

You’re invited to “A Downtown Chatham Outdoor Big Poetry Reading” on Sunday, May 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will take place outside of the Downtown Chatham Centre at the corner of King & Fifth streets. It’s free and it will happen rain or shine. Come for 10 minutes, for half an hour, for as long or as little as they like. There will be funny poems, serious poems, story poems, and nonsense poems. There will be poems by famous authors and by unknown authors. All are poems that were written to be enjoyed when read aloud. Bring a chair, if you like. The reader is Clair Culliford of the Veranda Presents. There will be poems by Coleridge, Kipling, Herrick, Blake, Yeats, Frost, Milton, and more. In honour of RetroFest, a car poem will be read. Artists Wanted for the Annual Juried Art Show

We are seeking submissions for this year's Juried Art Show. Any type of artwork is accepted including sculptures, paintings etc.  Cash Prizes to be won. Artwork will be on display throughout the summer and here for our busiest weekend during  WAMBO giving you an opportunity to show off your talents.  Prize night August 17th with all the entry fees going back into the prize funds. Also sponsored by the Wallaceburg Rotary Entries $15 per art piece with a maximum of 2 per person. Closing date for entries June 23rd. Show will be held from June 29-August 30th 2018 For full rules go to our facebook page or website where you can download an application form. Our annual art show for the students of Wallaceburg and district will be on display from May 25th til June 22nd with works from all ages and grades . They will be competing for prizes which will be handed out at the Awards night on June 1st at 5pm Free entry to see the amazing works of the talented children and youth of the town.

Countryside Knitting Club Meetings

The Countryside Knitting Club will be meeting monthly at the Chatham Branch of CKPL and new members are welcome! All meetings take place on the third Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring their own knitting needles and yarn. During meetings new techniques are demonstrated, members bring in items for ‘show and tell’, items are collected for charity, and members work to solve each other’s knitting issues. The Countryside Knitting Club, which started in the 1980s, includes machine and hand knitters. In addition to personal projects, members of the club have knitted various items including hats, scarves, mittens, baby blankets, baby outfits, baby hats and comfort balls for local charities.
