Canada Homestay Network is looking for hosts for students Gr 9-12 in the Sarnia-Lambton area. We have students who come from all over the world and stay with us anywhere from 1 month to 10 months.

What we ask of our hosts:

-provide a private bedroom, with a window, door, bed, desk and closet or dresser

-provide 3 meals a day and snacks

-internet

-a caring family atmosphere that you would expect if you sent a love one to the other side of the world!

What we provide our hosts:

-a generous stipend of $750 to offset any of the costs of having a student

-24/7 emergency support

-an amazing experience to meet new people, share our Canadian culture while learning about other cultures

The Friends of the Brockville Public Library invite the public to Meet the Author Barry P. Hall, who will talk about his book Wages of War, A Sequel to Ghost from the Holocaust, on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m.

This book has a story within a story! Hall brings harness racing, fishing and a crime to the pages of the his book. Can veteran Serge Richardson live with what he has done?

Community Event - North Bay - Steps To The Past - Five Week Genealogy Course

Steps To The Past - The Nipissing District Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be presenting a five week, beginners only, course for those with no experience in genealogical research.  An experienced instructor will show you the steps to discovering and recording your family history.  Course will include record keeping, on-line research, documents, etc.  The five week course will start on Saturday February 23rd and will end on Saturday March 23rd.  It will be held in the Joan Duquette Room on the upstairs Mezzanine of the North Bay Public Library, 271 Worthington Street East, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00.  A fee of $10 will be charged to cover the cost of the handouts.  To allow for one-on-one assistance, the class size will be limited to five participants ONLY so preregistration is required by emailing nipissinggenealogy@gmail.com.
