Healthy Start 50/50 Raffle

Life With A Baby is holding a 50/50 raffle, closing on May 1st.  Help us help parents.   Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), including depression and anxiety, affect 1 in 5 women. Life With A Baby focuses on preventing social isolation–a pivotal precursor to PMADs. We offer activities, events, workshops, support groups, counselling led by mental health professionals, and opportunities to build the village every parent needs to thrive. Your support helps us continue offering these vital services free or low cost to every parent who needs them. trellis.org/healthy-start-raffle  Ticket Bundles are available, 1 for $10, 5 for $20 and 50 for $50.

On the first weekend of May every year, Jane’s Walk, a free festival of volunteer-led walks take place in hundreds of cities around the world including  Kingston. These walks encourage us to discover more about our city and to connect with our neighbours In Kingston this year,  there will be 19 uniquely different walks; 7 of them deal with new subjects or areas of the city. The walks will include various aspects of human life and wildlife, past and present. May 23 at 7 p.m., join us at the University Club at Queen’s (168 Stuart St.) as we welcome Dr. David Detomasi of Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. Dr. Detomasi will be speaking about Profits and Power, Canada’s way forward in Geopolitics. RSVP today! Dr. Detomasi is an Adjunct Associate Professor & Distinguished Teaching Fellow of International Business. He completed his PhD from the Department of Political Studies at Queen's University in 1999, specializing in international political economy. He also holds a Master of Arts in War Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen's University, and is a graduate of the Executive Program on the Global Financial System from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dr. Detomasi's research interests include globalization, geopolitics, and corporate and non-profit governance. His book, Profits, Power and Petroleum: Navigating the Economics, Politics, and Geopolitics of Oil, was published by the University of Toronto Press in 2022. He teaches courses on strategy, governance, and the geopolitics of global competition in undergraduate, MBA, and executive education programs at the Smith School of Business and has taught programs in Canada, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. He has served as Academic Director for Global Business, Queen’s Executive Development Centre. He as has also served for a five-year term as academic director for the Fundamentals of Governance Program, Queen’s Executive Development Centre, and has served as Vice-Chair of the Queen’s University Senate. Dr. Detomasi resides in Kingston, is married, and has three children. We aim to find diverse voices that have left a significant mark in a host of domains and we’re honoured to be joined by Dr. Detomasi. Space is limited so reserve your spot today!

A sit-down dinner with a choice of 3 main entrees, a signature cocktail from The Frontenac Club and a featured dessert from Bread and Buttery Bakery. There will be a live and silent auction with all funds raised being directed to support Almost Home.
